Tuesday Post

Hi! So I got a little behind on blogging with memorial weekend, ooops! My days are all mixed up so I just remembered that I needed to do my weekly blog.

Hope everyone was able to enjoy their long weekend (if you had a long weekend!). Andy got very lucky and had Fri & Mon off! We honestly didn't do much, but that's okay! We're cutting back our spending a bit so that means less going out to eat and doing less activities that cost money :) We did spend a lot of time at the park with the pup, and I spent a lot of time baking goodies! We did head out to Mission Trails Regional Park on Saturday and did a few of their hikes. It was PERFECT hiking weather and they have a great variety of trails. Andy's parents are visiting this coming weekend and we plan on taking them out there to hike! Here are some pictures I snagged after we trekked up a bit of the mountain:

I'm just starting to slowly prep myself for this upcoming move. I cannot believe we move in 3 weeks. It's time to start figuring out what to pack in the car and what to put on the moving truck, and time to start planning our route! I'm also getting excited to have a few days in Minnesota. The closer it gets, the more I'm realizing how much I've missed good ol' MN (and the midwest in general) the past 7 months! Just praying the move goes smoothly so we really can have those days at home/up north MN!

I have started the job hunt too! I've applied at one place so far but still have a lot of other places to look and send my resume to as well. I have a good feeling that with this move, I'll get a good job! It really has been rough not working while we've been here...I like to be kept busy!

Well I must get going, I have a load of things to get done and I want to try and treat myself to some yummy yoga today too!

1 Month Left

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your week is off to a good start!

Some of you may already know this but we already got ourselves a house in Great Lakes! I found out like 5 minutes after I posted last weeks blog haha, so that's why I'm telling you now. It's a small house, with 2 bedrooms, a garage and a YARD. Not sure how big the yard is but I just can't wait to have a yard to let the dog play in! It's in the military neighborhood so we are less than a mile from the hospital Andy will be at. And it just so happens one of Andy's good navy friends/old roommates and his soon-to-be wife will be living in the same neighborhood! As you can tell, I'm pretty excited. I'm ready for a new place and new adventures...and a place to finally get a job! (Planning to start job hunting in the upcoming weeks)

Only downer to the whole moving thing...the actual move! I am NOT looking forward to sending all of our stuff off on a moving truck while we live with the bare essentials for a few weeks, yuck. But I am looking forward to a nice long car ride...I actually enjoy long car rides with the hubby :) But, if all goes well with our moving company's timing, we should have some time to come home to Minnesota for a few days at the end of June/start of July!!! We haven't been home in 6 months, so it would be nice to have a few days at home. We also are planning on heading up the North Shore (Grand Marais/Lutsen area) to FINALLY have ourselves a little honeymoon that we never got back in October. I think we both really need a vacation!

Anywho, those were some updates on the move! We move a month from tomorrow. I can't believe our 7 months here is almost up!

I don't really have much more to report! I promise our lives really aren't exciting haha. I did start reading 50 shades of grey this weekend, and am almost done. I just had to read the book after all the hype it's been getting. Still can't decide if I like it or not haha, it's definitely the most unique story I have ever read! But to update on our now 6 month old puppy...she has learned to jump up and put her front paws on the kitchen table. I know, we are in BIG trouble now if that becomes a habit! When I caught her doing it yesterday, I had to just marvel at the fact that she's big enough to do that now before yelling at her :)

She never sleeps in a normal position...
Our "punch bowl" drink at dinner on Saturday...it was fairly potent :)
Just checkin' out the view with the wind blowing through  her ears!

Another Week

Hi! Hope every had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday! It was kind of a bummer not to be with our moms yesterday but we were still able to Skype and chat!

We have just a little over a month left here in San Diego and I can't believe it. I'm definitely going to miss the mountains, the ocean, the palm trees and the overall beauty of this area! But I am actually getting more and more excited to move. I honestly can't wait to job hunt, and will probably get started soon. After not working the past 6 months, I've realized how I actually LIKE having a job! Weird huh?! ;) Just hoping the job hunt is easier and more successful this time around! And I'm ready to dive back into taking classes and getting closer to a degree. I talked to my advisor today she's been pulling strings on my degree audit so that I don't have as many classes to take...what a nice woman! I still might have another 2 years though...oh well, at least I'm working towards it!

This past week wasn't too eventful, because I sat at home monitoring the dog making sure she didn't rip her stitches out! That's right folks, Layla got spayed! It was so cute and sad when she came home all groggy and with the cone on her head. But she is a TROOPER and hasn't paid much attention to her wound so she doesn't have to wear the cone. Until the stitches come out, we are trying to keep her somewhat calm, which is hard with a pup! :)

This weekend was low key but we did manage to hit up Old Town for some mexican food one night. Old Town is a cool area (we've been there a few times) but it's definitely a tourist trap! They have lots of gift shops and Andy was REALLY enjoying it ;) We also took a looooooong motorcycle ride in the beautiful weather yesterday. We just sort of drove and ended up semi in the mountains at a park!
The view from the random park!

Hope you all have a great week! It's almost summer! YAY!

Visitor Fun

Helloooo everyone! Sorry for posting a bit late, it's just been a busy busy day :)

I feel like I have a lot to post about, so sorry if this gets a little long! First off, as some of you may already know, we will be moving to Great Lakes, IL at the end of June! It's about 30-40min from Chicago, and is where Andy was stationed for bootcamp and corpsman school, so we are somewhat familiar with the area. To be honest, I think we both were hoping for somewhere a bit more exciting and warm (but it is hard to beat San Diego once you'd already lived here!). But, it will be SO nice to be a 6hr drive from home, and to be back in the midwest again. And I'm hoping it'll be much easier for me to find a job there! There are pros and cons to moving anywhere but I truly think we are being sent there for a reason :) so I'm happy with it!

So that was the big news from last week! Then we had Andy's friend Greg come for a visit, and he just left earlier today. It was so fun to have him here and show him around. We like to save all the sightseeing and tourist stuff for when people are here so we don't keep repeating things :) We did lots of fun things! And we did sneak in going to see the Avengers (go see it. it is insanely amazing.)! I'll post some pictures of the things we did so you don't have to listen to be babbling on and on about it. But I must say, we went to karaoke last night at a british pub by our place and it was a blast. There was a guy who sang a Sean Paul song and sounded just like him haha!

It was a busy weekend and I know both me and Andy are exhausted and ready to relax this week. Layla is getting spayed tomorrow, poor little thing will have a sore tummy for a bit, and a "cone of shame." Well that's about all I have for now folks, hope you all have a fantastic week! (PS congrats to everyone I know graduating these next few weeks!)

Sunday night fun ;)
Being dumb.... :)
Balboa Park botanical gardens
La Jolla & the seals. Definitely going to miss the ocean when we move!
San Diego Wild Safari Park (very very cool, highly recommend going here)
Me and Greg toured the USS Midway while Andy was at work one day!
